Heating
To report a repair:

Your responsibilities
- If there is a gas leak or a smell of fumes, contact National Grid (Gas) immediately on 0800 111999 and let us know too.
- Checking that your heating controls are set correctly. See Adjusting heating controls.
- Getting repaired and serviced any appliances you own, eg gas or electric fire.
- Keeping your home properly heated and ventilated to prevent condensation and to prevent pipes from bursting during cold weather, particularly if you are away on holiday or in hospital.
Advice
- You should make sure that your gas supply has not been disconnected because you have not paid your bill or fed the meter. If this happens you must relight it and reset controls yourself.
- If you, a member of your family or a visitor causes damage to heating appliances, we will do the repair work and will charge you the cost of the repair.
- If a radiator is leaking or loose because you have been doing redecoration work, you will be charged for the cost of the repair.
- Any installation or repair of a gas appliance you own must be done by a qualified gas installer.
- If you want to fit a paddle fan type light fitting, you must get our permission first.
We need to know
- What is the problem, eg: central heating not working; no hot water; radiator leaking or not getting warm; fire or heater not working?
- What type of heating is it: gas, electric; solid fuel (wood or coal) or oil? What type of heating system is it: wall-mounted boiler, separate gas or solid fuel fire, storage or convector heater? What make or model is it? Do you know which contractor fitted it and when?
- How is the hot water heated: by your central heating system or a separate hot water heater?
- Have you any other form of heating or hot water?
