Your responsibilities
- Decorating walls and ceilings inside your home to a reasonable standard.
- Filling minor cracks and holes in walls and ceilings.
- Keeping air vents clear and using extractor fans (where these are provided).
- Fitting curtain rails, blinds and coat hooks.
- Repairing any damage caused by you, a member of your family or a visitor to your home.
- Putting up and replacing TV aerials unless in a communal area.
Advice
- Try to keep condensation to a minimum to prevent damp and mould on the walls or ceiling.

- If you caused the damage, we expect you to get it repaired yourself. If damage is caused by water leaking, you may be able to make a claim on your own home contents insurance.

We need to know
- What is the problem, eg: wall plaster loose or crumbling; ceiling plaster bulging; condensation or mould on walls or ceiling?
- Is there any damage caused by water leaking from a pipe or radiator, or through the roof?
- If outside, what type of wall surface is it: render, boards or hanging tiles?
- If cladding boards or fascia (outside), what are they made of: wood or plastic (upvc)?
- If a ceiling or wall, does it have a textured finish, eg Artex?
- If wall tiles (inside), what shape, size and colour are they?
- If a wall, what is it made of: brick or concrete blocks?
