Glossary of terms
This page explains some of the terms used in the handbook that may be unfamiliar to you.
This is the type of tenancy that housing association tenants have.
The organisation set up by the Government to set standards and
regulate what social landlords like WATMOS do.
The formal agreement that sets out the responsibilities of
WATMOS and the TMOs in providing your housing services.
This is where two or more tenants swap homes and tenancies.
This means court action leading to the ending of the tenancy and the
eviction of the tenant.
This is the right of a tenant to enjoy the full use of their home free from
interference, harassment or nuisance.
This is the set of rules and standards that the Housing Corporation
expect social landlords like WATMOS to work to.
This is where a relative takes over a tenancy when the current
tenant dies.
This is where a tenant lets out part of their home to someone else.
(an organisation set up by tenants
to run their own estates).
This means that when you accept a home from WATMOS or when it
is handed back to WATMOS there is no-one else left in the property
and it is available for the free and full use of the tenant or the landlord.
