Details

The Social Media Safety course is designed to help keep you, your children and your whole family safe online.

You will learn how to stay safe online. We will provide online safety information and guidance for parents, grandparents and carers to help you keep your children safe online.

You will learn how to:

  • Get to know how your children can access and use the Internet
  • Understand the potential issues and risks for children online
  • Gain awareness and an understanding of your children’s online activities to help support them
  • Identify age appropriate online content, games and apps suitable for your children
  • Start a conversation and agree some rules with your children about the type of content, games and apps that they’re allowed to use
  • Use privacy settings across social media platforms to manage your family’s digital footprint
  • Set up parental controls to help keep your children safe online
  • Promote healthy screen time habits for your children
  • Manage the amount of time your children spend online and balance this with their other activities for their overall wellbeing.
  • Get advise on how to support your child if they have seen inappropriate or explicit content or have experienced anything hurtful or harmful online

This course is open to people who live in the London Borough of Lambeth and is run by WATMOS Community Homes in partnership with Clear Community Web and West London Mission (WLM).
