As the financial pressures increase around the festive period, Walsall Council are actively urging eligible residents to apply for Household Support Fund. The government grant is only available until the 31st March 2024.

The Government grant aims to help low-income households, including families, pensioners, unpaid carers, care leavers and disabled people. This support could help with residents energy, water broadband and phone bills, as well as other essentials such as food, clothing and hygiene products.

Additionally, eligibility requires not receiving adequate support from other government schemes, being responsible for paying rent, mortgage, gas, electric, or water bills for the home they live in, and having a combined household capital totalling less than £6,000.

The criteria also stipulates that anyone with a single applicant in gainful employment, the total household income should be under £25,000 gross. Joint applicants in gainful employment must have a total household income under £30,000 gross. These criteria ensure that the grant reaches those who genuinely require financial assistance.

Walsall residents are reminded that if they are currently receiving benefits, other entitlements remain unaffected by the Household Support fund.
