Our In-Depth Assessment results are in
We’re proud to announce that the Regulator of Social Housing has published an In-Depth Assessment (IDA) of our organisation, and we’re pleased with the results.
We’ve been upgraded to G1 status for governance (the highest possible rating), while maintaining our V2 rating for financial viability. We also received a C1 rating for the new consumer standards – the top grade under the regulator’s updated framework.
The IDA is designed to ensure that housing associations like Watmos are financially resilient, well managed and deliver great services to residents.
Our improved G1 status reflects the hard work and commitment we’ve put in to building a strong governance structure, with transparency, accountability and resident involvement at the core of what we do.

Kul Bains, Chief Executive of Watmos Community Homes, said:
“I'm really pleased the regulator has recognised the significant progress we've made in strengthening our governance framework. Since our last assessment in March 2021, we've made a number of changes to strengthen our board, have clearer accountability as well as a sharper focus on risk and performance. These improvements have helped us to build a more resilient, transparent and responsive organisation.
“As a prominent provider of tower block accommodation with 27 tower blocks, we have made substantial investments in refurbishing these buildings, resulting in excellent outcomes for our residents. Completing this programme in the coming weeks will be central to regaining our V1 grading.
“I'm also delighted that we've achieved the highest possible grading (C1) for the regulator’s new consumer standards, which reflects our deep-rooted commitment to resident involvement and accountability.
“I’m enormously proud of the dedication shown by colleagues across Watmos, who all contribute to delivering services that make a real difference to people’s lives every day.”
About the assessment
The IDA is a thorough review that normally takes place every three to four years. Our last one was in March 2021. This time, the regulator reviewed a wide range of documents, observed a board meeting and a Resident Committee meeting, spoke to residents, and met with non-executive directors.
To be rated as compliant, a housing association must receive a viability rating of V1 or V2, a governance rating of G1 or G2 and a compliance rating of C1 or C2. Watmos has met that benchmark – and more.
This latest inspection also looked all four of the consumer standards for the first time: Neighbourhood and Community, Safety and Quality, Tenancy, and Transparency, Influence and Accountability. These standards have been designed to protect residents and improve the services provided by all social landlords.
We’re proud that the regulator has confirmed we’re delivering excellent outcomes across all of these areas.
