Working together to raise awareness of domestic abuse

We are supporting 16 Days of Action Against Domestic Violence 2025, an international campaign which aims to raise awareness, advocate change, and calls for an end to domestic violence and gender-based abuse. This annual campaign runs from Tuesday 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women , and ends on Wednesday 10th December, International Human Rights Day.

White Ribbon Day takes place on 25th November, alongside the 16 Days of Action campaign. This year’s ‘We Speak Up’ campaign theme, encourages everyone, especially men and boys, to take a pledge to never commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women.

 Standing Together Key figures:

Approximately 2.3 million people aged 16 and over experienced domestic abuse in the last year.

1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime.

1 in 7 men will face domestic abuse during their lifetime.

Every 30 seconds the police receive a call for help relating to domestic abuse.

How we’re supporting these campaigns:

The 16 Days of Action Against Domestic Violence and White Ribbon Day campaigns, give us an opportunity to inform and engage with residents to highlight what domestic abuse is and provide information to help and support to those affected by domestic abuse.

Posters

We have placed posters on noticeboards to raise awareness and reach out to women experiencing domestic abuse in their homes across our neighbourhoods and communities.

Our staff can support you

We understand that domestic abuse awareness and support are important. Our front-line Tenancy Officers in London have been trained on domestic abuse. We also have a Domestic Abuse Champion in Walsall to help us better understand how to work with and support victims of domestic violence.

Campaign events

Our Domestic Abuse Champion will be joining various professionals and partner organisations at various campaign events being held in Walsall to help raise awareness about Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and bring services together to improve safety, protection and local support services for domestic abuse victims and survivors within local and wider communities.
