Residents’ Working Lunch with our CEO, Kul Bains

Kul BainsWatmos CEO, Kul Bains invited Walsall residents to a lunchtime meeting on 5th February, to meet Watmos staff and discuss the ways we can work together for the benefit of our communities. Over 20 residents came to the event at the Watmos office, representing all seven Watmos estates in Walsall.

Some of the attendees got involved with Watmos recently, while others were volunteering on TMOs and helping manage their estates when Watmos was first set up over 20 years ago.

Kul spoke about Watmos’s new resident-engagement structure, which includes the Resident Voice network and support for Tenant and Resident Associations. Residents and Watmos staff then discussed the needs of local communities and identified ways that Watmos can best support resident involvement and community activities.

It was a fruitful discussion. All agreed on the importance of residents’ associations to support community cohesion, combat isolation and benefit individual residents. Watmos staff committed to helping residents who wish to set up Tenant and Resident Associations (TRAs) and to back initiatives that include as many residents as possible.

Attendees also came up with the idea of a resident involvement forum, where TRA members, local residents and Watmos staff can get together to share good practice, form positive relationships, and discuss local plans and priorities.

Kul Bains confirmed that Watmos will continue to provide a Community Development Fund to recognised TRAs, to support events and activities, wellbeing initiatives and volunteering opportunities.

If you have never been involved in our work before, we would love to hear from you! Please complete the community development survey to tell us what matters most to you on your estate.
