Avenues Ablaze for the Christmas Lights Competition

 It was a cold and breezy December evening, when I met Avenues residents, Sam  Graham  and Sam Hallett, to judge the Christmas Lights competition 2025.  

But the weather  couldn’t  dampen our spirits - it was so lovely to see all the colourful lights,  inflatables  and decorations, transforming the area into a real winter wonderland.   

  I was  very proud  to judge the competition - and it was a tough decision, because so many houses looked wonderful. In the end we agreed that the first prize should go to 37 Second Avenue (pictured), because Christmas  isn’t  Christmas without a gingerbread man, a polar  bear  and some reindeer on the driveway.  

19 & 20 First Avenue took second and third prize jointly. Both houses were lit beautifully with a matching display that showed real community spirit .    

We hope the winners enjoyed their gift vouchers. Congratulations to them, and thanks to everyone who took part in making Avenues so warm and cheerful at Christmas!
